About Pocketsense
Pocketsense is an independent, educational personal finance portal built with a single goal: to provide free, accurate, distraction-free financial calculators and practical guides for everyday investors and taxpayers in India.
Why We Built Pocketsense
Navigating financial decisions—whether calculating monthly loan EMIs, projecting mutual fund SIP compounding, evaluating prepayment strategies, or deciding between the Old and New Income Tax Regimes—is often overwhelming. Many online financial calculators are cluttered with invasive lead-generation pop-ups, slow page speeds, and mandatory sign-ups.
We built Pocketsense to be different. Our tools run lightning-fast, feature clean intuitive interfaces, and focus strictly on delivering clear numerical answers with complete transparency on underlying mathematical formulas.
Privacy First Philosophy
Your financial numbers belong to you. We operate under a strict client-side processing framework. All calculations (such as SIP growth, loan amortization tables, XIRR returns, and tax slab computations) execute directly inside your Web browser using JavaScript.
- We do not collect, store, or transmit your salary, loan balances, or target investment amounts.
- When you export calculations as CSVs or PDFs, the files are generated locally on your device.
- You can plan your investments with 100% peace of mind regarding data privacy.
Editorial & Accuracy Standards
All articles, educational guides, and calculator documentation published on Pocketsense are authored and reviewed by the Pocketsense Editorial Team. Our content strategy prioritizes:
- Regulatory Alignment: Tax rules and deduction limits (such as Section 80C, 10(13A), Budget 2024 tax slabs, 112A equity LTCG rates) are verified against official publications from the Income Tax Department of India.
- Mathematical Precision: Financial formulas (e.g. Newton-Raphson XIRR iterations, reducing-balance EMI compounding, inflation-adjusted purchasing power) are cross-verified with standard actuarial practices and RBI guidelines.
- Clarity over Jargon: We explain complex financial concepts—like rupee-cost averaging, zero-based budgeting, debt avalanche, and tax indexation—in plain, accessible language.
